Morro Bay California engagement session | Samar and Reza

We did Samar and Reza’s Morro Bay, California engagement session six weeks before their wedding at Spanish Oaks Ranch

This is an excellent example of how there isn’t a specified time you NEED to do your engagement photos by. I get asked when the best time to do engagement photos is often. The answer varies for each person and their needs.

If you want to include an engagement session photo in your save the dates, then I usually suggest doing the session within a couple of months of booking. If you live further away and can’t make it up to the area as often, it can be convenient to schedule your session when you are in town.

Reza gifted Samar this engagement session. We had met when they first inquired and were in town, but doing a session with your photographer is so helpful! It allows you to get to know them and their style.

When we have already worked together, the photos on the wedding day feel more genuine and at ease. Of course, an engagement session is not necessary. However, it is a great excuse to get beautiful photos of you two in a casual setting. We can choose a location that feels special to you two, or a location that you find like. I have a long list of gorgeous places to photograph here on the Central Coast, and I’m happy to brainstorm with you! This Morro bay California spot is one of my favorite places for sessions. My husband and I had our engagement session at this spot because I love it so much.

Samar and Reza have an infectious energy. They were goofing around the whole time and making each other laugh.

If you know me, you know laughing photos are my favorite as well as photos that don’t feel as “posed” and more directed. These two were giggling and joking with each other the entire session.

Samar and Reza were worried that photos would be awkward and were a bit nervous. After the session, Samar sent me a sweet email thanking me for how much fun they had at the session. When they received their full gallery, she emailed me, saying, “We LOVED all of our pictures, and you made something that I think is awkward into a lot of fun.”

It is always my goal to make these photos uniquely you and fun.
