Rachel grew up on the Central coast, so when it came time to choose locations for their engagement session, Rachel knew she wanted photos on the sand dunes in Los Osos.
We started at the Oaks Preserve in Los Osos to get some photos in the shade while the sun was still high. This also allowed for a different look and gave more variety to their completed gallery of images.
The Sand Dunes in Los Osos are a bit more of a commitment than some other areas on the Central Coast, but it is worth it every time.
You park in a cute little neighborhood in Los Osos and go down a trail. It is a bit of a walk but not a hard one, albeit a sandy one. Once you reach the dunes, however, it’s a steep wall of sand. Whenever I plan for a session at the dunes in Los Osos, I plan for extra time for this walk. We usually spend far less time at a first location or even skip the first location altogether.
That way, we can take our time and laugh at ourselves while climbing up the steep hill of sand. The trail on the way to the dunes has wonderful photo opportunities, making it all the more appealing to take our time.
Including places that are sentimental to you, can make your session all that more special and unique to you two as a couple.
Rachel grew up not far from the trailhead, and she has numerous fond memories growing up with family and friends at this very spot. How cool is that?
Sometimes it’s a beach you went to when you first started dating in college here, or even a bar or favorite coffee shop you two always went to. Maybe it’s a barn that reminds you of a fond childhood memory somewhere entirely different but gives you all those nostalgic feels. There are a ton of ways to make your engagement session uniquely yours, and I love to brainstorm with you on how we can do that.
If you do not have a specific spot on the central coast that is sentimental to you, don’t fret!
I have a long list of gorgeous places where we can take photos, and I’m happy to send you examples of some of my favorite spots. I’m always down for an adventure to a new place in this area as well. Let’s talk!
