It’s that time of year again for family portraits!
These Los Osos Oaks Reserve family portraits was a challenge with three littles, but so fun! It always feels so rewarding getting good shots of everyone smiling at the camera. I always strive for a few of the classic looking at the camera smiling poses, but I also like to put an emphasis on the in between moments. Sometimes the non perfectly posed photos show a little more of the family’s personality. I strive to create portraits that are unique to each couple/person and family’s are no different.
We did all the normal classic shots but did some fun ones as well. I even conspired with the older kids to “crash” our photo of just mom and dad and they loved it.
For situations like this, where I have time to interact with the kids and family more, I prefer to do full 45 minute sessions if possible. More time allows me to get more authentic photographs of the children and how they interact within the family.
I first met Camila when she came to me for newborn portraits with her youngest, Noah. Now he is walking around and playing with his siblings!
I did their family portraits last year and we managed to choose a night with an incredible sunset in Montana De Oro in Los Osos.
The weather here in Los Osos is historically INCREDIBLE in October. It is my favorite time of year by far and my favorite time of year to get out on my paddle board.
This year, Camila wanted something different than the beach look we had gone for the year before. We decided on the Oaks Reserve. I shoot at the Oaks Reserve potentially a little too much but itt just never fails me and it works as a perfect first location, for sessions with multiple locations.
The weather was great and the sun was perfect shining through the trees. It is always such a joy to photograph families over the years. I love looking back and seeing how much the kids grow every year.
Here are some of my favorites from their session:
