This Bishops Peak and Avila beach engagement session was a dream. The weather was perfect for both locations. We started the session at Bishops Peak in San Luis Obispo. This is one of my new favorite first locations for the spring and summer. Bishops Peak is one of the peaks in SLO county and the sun sets behind the peak earlier than sunset. When we start the session on the side of the peak that is in shade at sunset, we are met with some beautiful golden light coming through the trees.
With the tree coverage and the early sunset behind the peak, it makes for a perfect first location.
Bishops Peak and Avila beach make the perfect pair for engagement sessions. Avila beach looks best at sunset when all those beautiful golden rays are setting over the ocean. When clients want a beach location, I try to find a location that is somewhat shaded for our first location. This gives us a good variety in the type of background for your session as well as ensure we have great light at both locations.
Courtney and Zane are getting married in San Luis Obispo County spring of 2021 and were able to take a quick vacation up here for their engagement session. Most of my clients are from out of town, so many will schedule a weekend in the area to get some wedding planning done. Often, before an engagement session is a great time to get a hair and makeup trial done. Clients usually also try to book some vendor appointments like catering and cake tastings as well. Courtney and Zane were only in town for a few short days, but were able to be a ton of things checked off their wedding planning list.
