It was perfect weather the day we photographed this engagement session at Morro Rock and the Los Osos Oaks Reserve. The weather was so dreary in Los Osos the weeks before this session. The Central Coast in July can be less than predictable weather wise, and it was such a great surprise when the sun came out the day of their session.
Kat and Matt chose the Oaks Reserve and Morro Rock as their locations to give them both a wooded and beach feel. This is one of my favorite combinations, if you haven’t already noticed. The Oaks light looks perfect about an hour or and hour and a half before sunset. I like to do beach or open field sessions within the hour of sunset. These two were almost like they were made for one another.
I love the Morro Rock location so much that it is where my husband and I did our engagement session four years ago.
I actually used to go to this exact location to eat lunch some days with friends, during high school. Morro Bay high school is so close to the beach that you are able to walk there easily for lunch. I’m embarrassed to say that sometimes that lunch was just three sprinkled doughnuts from Dollys Doughnuts. I don’t know how I ate like that back then! Although, I do still love pastries and Dolly’s is still my favorite. I remember sitting there in that soft pale sand talking with friends and dreaming about what our futures would hold. Who would have known that I would be going back to this beautiful spot so often for work. Life is funny like that.
The Central Coast never ceases to amaze me with it’s beauty.
